Previously, I reviewed Blockheads, which is a “snow cream” shaved-ice joint on Sawtelle. In case you don’t know what this is, they thinly shave a block of flavored ice, creating an almost ice cream like shaved ice experience.
Now comes another one in Westwood called Chilly Ribbons with more flavors and setup like a self serve yogurt place. First, choose one or 2 of the flavors and get something like what you see below.
Next, scoop up your favorite toppings.
Then pour on the Lyons dessert “sauce” drizzle.
Finally, return to the counter and put it on the scale like at Yogurtland and they will tell you how much you owe.
They have what appears to be a self serve shaving machine but they told me it doesn’t work yet and corporate is working on a smaller one. The one that is installed looks like a prototype. Once that is working, it would be less work for the people behind the counter.
If you like Blockheads, you should try this place. More flavors and more topping choices. But it’s in Westwood so parking is non-existent.
