Wells Fargo Bank will now offer their customers the choice of having their ATM receipts sent via text message to their phones. According to Wells Fargo Bank:
Today almost half of all receipt eligible transactions at the ATM result in customers selecting an e-receipt or not printing a receipt. Our customers tell us they appreciate the ability to reduce paper waste – text receipts just give them one more option.
This is a win-win-win situation because it’s more convenient for the customer, good for the environment, and cheaper for the bank to not have to use paper. Since banks already have the ability to send receipts by email, sending a text message is basically the same code and should be a no-brainer for the bank.
I would be very surprised if all the other banks don’t follow in Wells Fargo’s footsteps.
